For years BMW was thinking about a larger than X6 crossover/SUV.
No more.
They will instead be working on a 1 series based crossover.
I guess that would be the X1, right?

Yes, that would be called the X1
and it should share components with the Mini
SUV called the Crossman.
Good decision. These things (Escalade, GL, LX) required the American market where the excess size didn't detract from the popularity of a vehicle. Now with the US in economic shock, it'd make more sense to create a small vehicle that will be popular both here and abroad.
Not a silly idea considering the trend of other car makers.
No love lost.
If they did produce it that design would be getting really stale.
